Poetry is Wanted Here--Thanks Sherilynn

Poetry Is Wanted Here
You don'
soun' so good.
Pleez
take care.

Most o' this is mental.
That's why it's terrorism: it's meant to
disconcert,
make you revert
to blind fear --
Poetry is wanted here!

And to boot,
our home-grown nuts
are starting to take root.
Yet in most parts
things are calm and generally subdued.
But there’ve been hoaxes
and folks isgetting anxious
and ready to conclude
that it’s hopeless and drear --
Poetry would be helpful here!

So i’m gonna poetize
to realize
that you cannot hide
when worlds collide,
no going inside
no taking a breather
either;
It all comes in on you at once
& you gotta have at least an ounce
of hope and joy
to deploy
into the atmosphere
of fear
to implode
the load
of grief that’s drawing near--
Poetry is desired here!

'Cause all peoples are
just like you are
and I are
close or far
are
just people with nowhere to run:
Let’s stick a flower into every gun
like way back when,
or was that a dream?
Cant say now
feeling so low
seeing so bleak
thinking so drear --
Songs are needed here!
Rhyming
& timing,a rebirth of cheer --
Poetry would be good here!

BAM!
We are human
after all.
America
venerable
yet
vulnerable
and
human
after all:
That’s our true strength
& the real meaningof this happenstance:
That we can fall
and scroll
and rise
and be surprised
and not take for granted
the morning sun so beautiful and dear --
Poetry is wanted here!

Forgive me for ranting
for panting
for chanting
out of tune:
That’s the fool in me
seeking a tune in me
wantingto stay light and free
from what would oppress
depress
regress
obsess
and in general make a messo' my soul;
I wanna be whole
in control
on a roll
without the slightest hint of fear --
Poetry is needed here!

So my dear friend,
hang in
hang on
hang tight:
We gotta see this to the end;
We gotta be concern'd
and discern
the real enemy that we fight,
for the veil between truth and lie
is become so thin and sheer --
Poetry is wanted here!

Poetry

A Star Without a Name

When a baby is taken from the wet nurse,
it easily forgets her
and starts eating solid food.

Seeds feed awhile on ground,
then lift up into the sun.

So you should taste the filtered light
and work your way toward wisdom
with no personal covering.

That's how you came here, like a star
without a name. Move across the night sky
with those anonymous lights.

The Inner Groove

Okay--I have learned the importance of the inner groove. The true music inside that just makes you want to get down and boogey. For the longest time I have felt like a visitor or passive bystander in my life. Now I am feeling more me than I have in almost a year. Last night I went to my friend Aaron's funk band house party. Conveniently I was caught on film finding the real groove again--the girl is back. Don't underestimate the power of a funky groove.

I'm Back

So lately I have found myself on the survival mode level of life. I have just been getting by. As I was preparing for my Lit Class, I realized that my life has lacked poetry. I have been just trying to get by--make it through the day--get to bed--start again. I must have crossed some line. Maybe it was Easter--rebirth. But know I am feeling the need to poetry, for writing, for creativity, for music. I think if I was on Maslow's hierarchy of needs--I just went up a step. Time for a renewal. More writing. More joy. More verbalization of blessings. More compassion.
I have written in the past about transitional spaces. Here I am again. I have been waiting for it for a long time--here it is. A clear demarcation of here is your old life--you can't stay here--where are you going to go? I came across this quote while searching for information for class--

Uncertainty … is the fertile ground of pure creativity and freedom. Uncertainty means stepping into the unknown in every moment of our existence. The unknown is the field of all possibilities, ever fresh, ever new, always open to the creation of new manifestations. Without uncertainty and the unknown, life is just the stale repetition of outworn memories. You become the victim of the past, and your tormentor today is your self left over from yesterday. --Deepak Chopra

I have been learning that you can allow the past can hold you captive. The hardest, and easiest thing to do is let go. So here I go with uncertainty--but I know that God is there. It's going to be okay.

"the journey" by Mary Oliver

The Journey
One day you finally knew
what you had to do, and began,
though the voices around you
kept shouting
their bad advice--though the whole house
began to tremble
and you felt the old tug
at your ankles.
"Mend my life!"each voice cried.
But you didn't stop.
You knew what you had to do,
though the wind pried
with its stiff fingers
at the very foundations,
though their melancholy
was terrible.
It was already late
enough, and a wild night,
and the road full of fallen
branches and stones.
But little by little,
as you left their voices behind,
the stars began to burn
through the sheets of clouds,
and there was a new voice
which you slowly
recognized as your own,
that kept you company
as you strode deeper and deeper
into the world,
determined to do
the only thing you could do--
determined to save
the only life you could save.
