I did not go. Threats of swine flu in Park City and the thought of hundreds of sick college graduates made me reconsider my small part in the faculty processional. I am not a paranoid freak, worried about pandemics, I just have a compromised immune system. Here are some thoughts for graduation and all those who are graduating from things in life. I am graduating from survival to recooperation. :)
"The knowledge that you have emerged wiser and stronger from setbacks means that you are, ever after, secure in your ability to survive. You will never truly know yourself, or the strength of your relationships, until both have been tested by adversity. Such knowledge is a true gift. . . . It is painfully won, and it has been worth more to me than any qualification I ever learned."
